From 1960 to 1972, Aubrey Leonard Bullion (known as 'Len') was chief fire officer of Somerset Fire Brigade, which had its headquarters at Hestercombe House near Taunton, Somerset. Working with Somerset county landscape architect, William Mount, Mr Bullion helped to initiate the restoration of the Formal Garden at Hestercombe by Edwin Lutyens and Gertrude Jekyll, which began in 1973.
