David Cox junior, watercolour painter, was born on 9 July 1809 at Dulwich, to David and Mary Cox. He first exhibited at the Royal Academy (Cottage in Herefordshire) in 1827. Cox was elected an associate member of the New Society of Painters in Water Colours in 1841 and became a full member in 1845. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1827, at the New Society of Painters in Water Colours from 1841 and the Society of Painters in Water Colours from 1848, where he would eventually exhibit 580 works.[1] He died at his home in Streatham and was buried at West Norwood Cemetery.He resigned in 1846, and was elected an associate of the Society of Painters in Water Colours in 1848. Cox exhibited annually almost up to his death, showing some 580 works. David Cox, junior died on 6 December 1885.
