A famous doctor in Denbigh, Dr Evan Pierce was also the coroner of the Welsh town. For over fifty years he served as a member of the Town Council and between 1866 and 1870 Dr Pierce was town mayor. He is commemorated for his services to his local community in the Pierce Memorial Garden.
