Henry Hawkins Tremayne
Henry Tremayne was baptised in Cornwall in 1741. After the death of his elder brother in 1766, he became the heir to the Heligan estate. Further wealth accumulated from the inheritance of estates at Sydenham in 1808. He used the money to commission improvements at Heligan. He visited several other gardens in southern and central England and later laid out the northern gardens at Heligan.
