Who was Henry Wyatt?
Henry Wyatt was an architect who worked in the 19th-century.
Life and work
Wyatt's known commissions include Aldby park, North Yorkshire where he altered and extended the house in the 19th Century. Wyatt remodelled the interior of the house in the 1840s and laid out new gardens immediately to the south. He also enriched the grand hall with classical columns and a splendid cantilever staircase in 1840. Two wings were also added then, to accommodate a ballroom and dining room, but these were demolished in the 1950s to make a more manageable house.
