Who was James Stobie?
James Stobie was a surveyor active in the late-18th century, and is associated with Dunkeld, Scotland.
Stobie was the estate manager for John Murray, 4th Duke of Atholl. He designed several villages in Perthshire for the Duke, most notably Stanley and Pitcairngreen.
