Janie Burford was director of the Painshill Park Trust from 1981 to 2002, where she began and oversaw the project to restore the Grade-I-listed landscape at Painshill.
With a background in art and design, Janie Burford trained as a landscape architect at Thames Polytechnic from 1975, and was consultant designer (buildings and landscape) to the Home Office from 1973 to 1979.
She has been a trustee of the Chiswick House and Gardens Trust since 2006.
