John Phillips was a London master carpenter, master builder and architect active in the 18th century. He was born around 1709, the son of Matthew Phillips of East Hagbourne in Berkshire, England and for much of his career worked in partnership with George Shakespear (died 1797). Phillips died childless on December 28 1775.
