Samuel Taylor Coleridge, poet, critic, and philosopher, was born on 21 October 1772 at Ottery St Mary, Devon, to John Coleridge and his second wife, Ann. Coleridge was an influential poet and writer in the late-18th and early-19th centuries. Coleridge found inspiration for some of his work at Coleorton Hall. Coleridge died on 25 July 1834.
