Victoria May Sackville-West, commonly known as Vita, was a writer active in the 20th century. She was born on 9 March 1892 near Sevenoaks, England. In 1930 she, along with Harold George Nicholson, bought Sissighurst Castle, England, a Kentish Elizabethan Manor, whose garden they both developed on a large-scale. Sackville-West is noted particularly for her poems, travel writing and biographies. She died on 2 June 1962.
