Introduction
Brookhouse had a house with grounds and a productive garden to the south of Gaymerhaw Lane (later Stretford Road). There was a park to the east and south of the house bounded by a lane to the west and open fields to the east and south, possibly including an orchard on the southern boundary. By the end of the 19th century the park had been greatly reduced in size. A second house or lodge had been developed at the north-eastern corner, which was linked to the original house by a long drive through the remaining park. The site is now lost, and the area has been built over.
