Calder Abbey (also known as Abbey House)

Introduction

Calder Abbey is an 18th century house which is surrounded by parkland. The Abbey was originally founded in 1134 but became ruinous after the dissolution of the monasteries in 1536. Some stone was used to build the new house but the rest of the structure remains as a feature within the park.
