Castle House

Introduction

Castle House is an 18th-century stately home and garden in Town Street, with older wings attached to the rear of the property.

This is a large town house that has origins dating back to the medieval period. The house was originally a residence to the Barton family in the late 14th century. The Lambard family were perhaps the most important owners of the house. While they lived there in the 17th century they oversaw major alterations to the house.
