History

This is an early estate originally connected with John of Gaunt. There are also early earthworks.

The present house dates from the late 18th century. The former Mayor of London, Sir Richard Car Glyn, purchased the estate in 1785. The house is included in J.P. Neal's 'Views' 1818-1823. It has remained in the same family ownership but has gone through a number of different uses and is currently in a fragile condition.
