Introduction
The site has a house with gardens and a park bounded by Chorley New Road to the north and Gilnow Brook to the west. There are open fields to the south. The gardens were set out to the western boundary of the site. This is now the site of Bolton School and Gilnow Park Playing Fields.
- History
The gatehouse stood near to Park Road and the drive to the house followed the course of what was to become Bridge Street. The site was occupied in the early-20th-century by Mr J C Haslam. By the late-19th-century the site had been divided and a number of detached houses in individual plots had been developed on the area of the garden and part of the park. Heaton Cemetery had been established to the south-west of the site.
