Introduction
High Bank has a house and grounds bounded by Scholes Lane to the south, Ostrich Lane to the west and north and Bury Old Road to the east. The house and gardens were roughly central to the site, with greenhouses and a productive garden towards the northern boundary. By the 1890s the Track and Old Race Course to the east of the site had become Heaton Park and the area to the south was being developed for detached houses set in their own grounds. The site is now a school.
