Ibstone House

Introduction

Ibstone House has late 18th-century formal gardens, with an area of parkland to the east. The gardens have been modified since the original planting and the parkland is somewhat fragmented.

The house is a late C18 villa with c.1830-40 alterations and service wing to left. (Kelly's Directory 1847). The house was refurbished C20, with C20 extensions to rear at basement level.

Ibstone House was the home of Dame Rebecca West (1892-1983) who lived there from the late 1930s to the late 1960s.
