Kingwell Hall

Introduction

Kingwell Hall has parkland dating from the early 19th century.

History

Kingwell Hall was built in 1840 by Capt. George Treweeke Scobell and was home to members of the Scobell family for over 80 years. It started life in High Littleton parish and ended in Timsbury, as a result of boundary changes.

George Barton Scobell died on 19 April 1920 and Kingwell Hall was inherited by George’s younger brother Walter Barton Scobell (1887-1960).

The main part of the house was destroyed by fire in 1953 and the remains pulled down a few years later.
