Introduction
The Lyth (originally named Spoonhill House) lies south-east of Ellesmere. It had a park from the early 19th century, which abutted that of Oteley to the north. Its gardens featured 'a pretty trellis verandah of iron,' and there were separate kitchen gardens to the west of the house.
