Introduction

The recreation ground was provided as a memorial to the men who fell in the Great War 1914/1919.

The recreation ground was given by Sir Algernon Osborn Bart. The other costs were met by public subscription of the inhabitants of Compton and Chicksands.

This recreation ground has full size grass football pitches. The names of those commemorated are given on the posts at the entrance.

The park has play equipment for children and and is used for regular Saturday league football by Shefford Town & Campton Football Club.
