Old Inverlochy Castle

Introduction

The medieval stronghold that dominated the southern end of the Great Glen.

Due to access restrictions in place as a precautionary measure while high level masonry inspections are undertaken, there is currently no visitor access to the castle.

Inverlochy Castle was built by the ‘Red’ Comyns, lords of Badenoch and Lochaber. The Comyns dominated northern Scotland in the 1200s, and were key supporters of King John Balliol, earning the enmity of Robert the Bruce.
