Overtown House

Burderop is a private agricultural and sporting estate on the edge of the Marlborough Downs. The Estate has been owned by the Calley and Langton family since 1614, and currently extends over 1,800 acres of grassland, arable and woodland. Overtown House has been the centre of the Estate since the sale of Burderop Park in 1973, and the house and gardens are open to visitors on 28 days a year from 2014. We have recently converted one of the thatched barns at Overtown into a venue suitable for commercial use: so far it has acted as an exhibition space and the venue for a pre-wedding dinner party. The principal village is Hodson. This is a beautiful and secluded village consisting of numerous thatched and Grade II listed stone houses, cottages and barns. Here and elsewhere on the Estate we have a number of houses for letting, ranging from small-semi detached cottages to substantial houses. Although the game shooting operates with a privately run syndicate, the Estate offers the opportunity of letting a day’s simulated clay pigeon shooting. In concert with professional coaches from nearby Barbury Shooting School, we offer a chance to experience all of the delights of a day’s shooting alongside some expert tuition during the summer months. Communication links are excellent: 2 miles from Junction 15 of the M4, 10 minutes from the growing metropolis of Swindon and its famous train station, and just 15 minutes from the renowned High Street of Marlborough, we are just over an hour from London and look forward to welcoming you as a visitor
