Penpont

Introduction

Penpont is an early-19th-century house built round a 17th-century core situated on the the south bank of the river Usk. A small, early-19th-century park and garden survives, influenced by the writings of Repton. There are also the remains of an earlier formal layout, and some of the first larch trees in Britain, planted in the mid-18th century. Recent additions include a green man maze. The estate provides self-catering accommodation, and a venue for cultural events and sporting activites.
