Pond Farm, Eltisley

Introduction

Features of Pond Farm include a tree-lined moat, a lawn, a former pond and retaining walls.

The elevated lawn in front of the farm house is held by a brick retaining wall. Between this and an outer wall is a broad expanse of grass which runs into adjacent arable fields. In earlier times, this space was occupied by a range of farm buildings. The pond between the road and the outer wall has sadly disappeared.
History

Pond Farm is situated to the east of the triangular village green. This early-16th-century timber-framed building stands on a raised site surrounded on three sides by a tree lined moat.
