Portmeirion, Village Gardens

Introduction

In the middle of Portmeirion village is an open public space with a piazza and a garden area. Attached to the various village dwellings are numerous small private gardens. These are linked together by informal plantings, largely of ornamental shrubs, occurring beside paths and in every available space. The planting gives a sense of unity to the landscaping of the entire village.
