Introduction
Springfield had a house with grounds and a small park. There were entrance drives from Gidlow Lane past Gidlow Lodge and from Frog Lane past a brick field. Both entrances crossed fields. This was a roughly rectangular site tapering to the south surrounded by open fields. The house was to the extreme western boundary of the site, with a possible kitchen garden to the north together with an orchard. There was a single clump of trees in park, with additional planting of single trees in park by the late-19th-century. The site is now lost, and the whole area has been developed.
