Introduction
The original Tudor Hall was lost in a fire during the 1940s after much had been demolished in the early 20th century. A new hall was built on the original site after the fire. The formal gardens extended to 10 hectares in the 19th century, with walled gardens established in 1840. The 19th century glasshouses were restored in the 1990s and the walled garden was redesigned as a walled orchard for training people with disabilities by Peter Thoday.
