- History
Roger Gratwick built a Tudor house on this site. In 1690 it passed to Oliver Weekes Esq, nephew of Frances Gratwick. The house subsequently passed to the Leeves family and it was modernised and enlarged by W Leeves before 1835.
Mr Leeves purchased the neighbouring site of the Priory of Black Canons, founded before 1180 and dissolved in 1535. The Chapel and dormitory have disappeared but in 1835 the refectory had been converted into a barn. The very small Church still nearby is ancient and is probably of the same date.
