Witton Park

Introduction

Witton Park features include a formal garden, a pond, walks, garden terraces and stables.

Witton Park was comprised of extensive parkland and woodland plantations in the early-19th century. By the mid-19th century, a formal garden, a rectangular pond and yew walks were created. Garden terraces, stables and a walled, kitchen garden were also created at this time.
History

Witton Park house was built in 1800 and the park was created in 1818. The Park was used as a private residence until 1946, when it became a corporation park. The house was demolished in 1954.

The Witton Park is part of the Fields in Trust historic protection programme and have been protected since April 2011 under the Queen Elizabeth II Fields protection type.
